Philips Livable Cities Award

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of goviral. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you live in a city? I do. Living in the city has its perks but let's admit it it's healthier to live in the countryside where there are less people, more fresh air, less pollution, and lots of open spaces to exercise and play. The fast and hectic lifestyle in the city makes it ideal for economic growth but as the people who lives there becomes older and can't work anymore there is a need for their overall well being to be taken care of.

That is why Philips launched the Philips Livable Cities Award last May 2010. It aims to look for individuals, community groups and businesses who have ideas on how to improve people's lives and well being in the city. Philips is offering a total of 125,000 Euros to three different grants which will help make the ideas a reality.

Here are the three awards categories:

1. Well-Being Outdoors - entries in this category should propose ideas on how to help people feel more secure in the outdoors as well as encourage sense of identity in their communities.

2. Independent Living - entries in this category should be about ideas on how the elderly people can feel more secure while living in the city and also enable them to live a longer and more comfortable life.

3. Healthy Lifestyle at Work and at Home - entries in this category should be about ideas on how to improve the lifestyle of the general population while at work or at home.
