I admire her because of her courage in facing the trials of her life and continuing to move on for her children. --- The Best Gift Ever ---

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.
Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said,"With all your money you give me a Bible?"And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the stillnew Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11,"And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessing because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for...

Lesson I learned: If your gift is not packed the way you want it, it's because it is better packed that way for God knows best what is good for us. Learn to appreciate small things and never let an opportunity pass to let the people you love know that you love them and appreciate them --- it could be the last time you see them.

1. What is your favorite food?
- pizza, pizza and more pizza!

2. What was your happiest moment when you were a child?
- whenever my mom and my aunts arrive home for a vacation - it was always filled with outings to the beach, riding a banca, and eating delicious food!

3. Where is the place that you want to go the most?
- Zambales, the place where I grew up. I miss our home and I want Z to see the place where I spent my childhood days. But I would also love to go to Europe!

4. What is your pet peeve?
- none that I could think of.

5. When you encounter a sad moment, what do you do?
- I just sleep it away.

6. What are you afraid to lose the most?
- My family!

7. If you win $1 million, what would you do?
- Invest it for sure, allot something for Z's education, our retirement, emergency funds, living expenses for the rest of our lives; give a part of it to my lola, mom, tita and travel to Europe with my family.

8. What is the saddest moment for you last year (2007)?
- When my lola got sick and the year before when my Tita Litz died unexpectedly and orphaned my three cousins.

9. What item do you wish you could buy next?
- I want a cool camera so I could capture our moments anytime, anywhere.

10. How do you cope with boredom?
- I read blogs, surf, and watch tv.

11. Till now, what is the moment that you regret the most?
- Not going to Samar to see my aunt a few months before she died...

12. What type of person do you hate the most?
- plastic and noisy

13. What is your ambition?
- be a successful entrepreneur

14. If you had one wish, what would you wish for?
- I wish life would be better for all of us!

- I celebrated it with my family

- too many to mention!

- earning a substantial income while working at home and to finally teach Z how to read.

- my family

20. If you were to change one event in your life, what would it be?
- It is not really an event, but growing up I should have peeked more in the kitchen while my lola was cooking so I don't have a hard time learning how to cook now for my family.

27 years

When I first told Zyke that my birthday is coming up, he could not get over the idea that someone else besides him is celebrating a birthday. I told him his birthday was last January and now it is mommy's turn. But he insisted that it still is his birthday that is coming up. After a few days he has reconciled with the idea that it is mommy's birthday. Zyke was just as happy to share the cake with me. He did not try to blow the candles himself just like he did with his cousin's birthday cake. S was very cooperative, he was the one who did all the cooking as I declared that today is my holiday. He burnt the rice, which was unfortunate because of the current rice shortage situation, and he undercooked the chicken. But I was still happy because of all his effort.
